Machine Tool Technologies

Take apart anything from a car engine to a washing machine, and what do you find? Parts, all kinds of parts. With skills in Machine Tool Technology, the parts students learn to make will be at the heart of machines of all kinds, from guitars to jets. Machine Tool Technology students learn practical skills in a hands-on environment. Integrating science, math, and technology to operate various machines, students can master the ability to make literally ANYTHING.

Students will learn to operate the lathe, including the Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) lathe. They will also learn to use the mill. Students will be introduced to the world of Automated Manufacturing, the branch of technology that deals with the design of a part using Solid Works and Computer Aided Drafting, and Feature Cam, a computer aided manufacturing program, as they machine their projects in class using a CNC mill.

JOB MARKET
Students in Machine Tool Technology are being prepared for careers in not only machining, but in engineering, science, and technology. Successful graduates of this class can go right to the workforce. As an entry level machinist, graduates can expect to earn from $15 to $30 per hour. Students can also choose to further their education at colleges and technical schools, as they pursue degrees in fields such as engineering.

COLLEGE CREDIT

Students can currently receive up to 16 hours of free dual credit from State Fair Community College. Articulated Credit is also available from SFCC and Metropolitan Community College .
